ORLANDO, Fla. (March 1, 2016) – The Florida Health Care Coalition (FLHCC) announced and installed the 2016-2017 executive committee during today’s Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors at Valencia College.

The following are now appointed members and officers of the FLHCC 2016-2017 Executive Committee:

  • Board Chair – Patrick Peters, Orange County Government
  • Board Vice Chair – Barbara Wachsman, The Walt Disney Company
  • Treasurer – Mary Beth Clifton, Valencia College
  • Secretary – Mark Weinstein, Independent Colleges and Universities Benefits Association
  • At-large Director – Ashley Bacot, Rosen Hotels and Resorts
  • At-large Director – Ana Palenzuela, City of Orlando
  • At-large Director – Scott Clark, Miami-Dade Public School District
  • At-large Director – Dave Blasewitz, Pinellas County Government

During the Annual Meeting, FLHCC shared their focus for the upcoming year. Central to 2016 initiatives will be the new, open-sourced health care concept, the “Health Rosetta,” which will serve as the main theme of the FLHCC Annual National Conference taking place on April 28, 2016. The Health Rosetta is a non-commercial, open-source project that provides a reference model for how purchasers of health care should procure health services.

In addition to installing the new Executive Committee members, Dr. Thomas Parry, President of the Integrated Benefits Institute (IBI), discussed "Connecting Health to Organizational Performance.” Dr. Parry presented results from IBI’s newest research study regarding the ways companies currently invest in the health of their workers, the expected returns from their portfolio of health benefits, and the future role of employers in the evolving health care marketplace.

“IBI and FLHCC will collaborate on a study of what business indicators can be used to determine the impact of worker health,” said FLHCC President and CEO Karen van Caulil. “The study will help in moving towards a better understanding of the link between workforce health and human capital performance from the business perspective.”
